Geo Plus was contracted by MMT (Marin-M-Tteknik) Sweden to carry out three cable burial depth surveys for TenneT.
The aim was to survey them with Side Scan Sonar to see if any of the cables were exposed or had deviated from its route.
The Geo Motion surveyed the route of the cables landfall or as shallow as she could get to a depth of around 15 m. The Geo Motion carried out the Side Scan Sonar work along the actual cable.
Additional the route was filled up with a Multibeam survey to see if there was anything that the client should be aware of along the route.
Typically the kind of things that were looked for were: UXO’s, fishing gear, excessive building up of sand, bottom debris across the cables and of course any exposed cable.
The Geo Motion is a perfect platform for these surveys as it is shallow drafted, easy to handle and it can carry a wide array of survey instruments in order to do these sort of short quickly executed jobs.
